Thiamax, one of the leading thiamine supplements in the US, contains thiamine tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide, a derivative of thiamine (vitamin B1) with high bioavailability, making it the perfect natural supplement to improve your thiamine status. TTFD, the main ingredient in Thiamax, has displayed the ability to cross the blood-brain-barrier and can bypass normal routes of thiamine absorption, with a higher rate of uptake both in the gut and at the cellular level. It also includes a small amount of magnesium (as magnesium taurate), which plays an important role in supporting how your cells can use thiamine.
Thiamax – What makes it superior to other thiamine supplements?
Thiamax, a synthetic thiamine supplement, contains a highly-bioavailable derivative of thiamine (vitamin B1) called TTFD – thiamine tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide. This form has been widely researched in Japan for its therapeutic potential in addressing thiamine deficiency.
Unlike ordinary forms of Vitamin B1 or thiamine supplements, TTFD’s molecular structure allows it to pass through intestinal and cellular membranes without the requirement for a transport system. Once inside the cell, it can be activated and used as a cofactor in important biochemical processes.
TTFD also has a demonstrated capacity to penetrate the blood brain barrier and increase thiamine levels in the brain and central nervous system, where it may be used to support optimal cognition and maintain autonomic nervous system function.
Due to its superior bioavailability, TTFD can be taken in much lower doses than what is considered the “therapeutic dose” of other forms such as thiamine salts. Thiamax also contains a small amount of magnesium (as magnesium taurate), which is a mineral that is important for supporting how cells can utilize thiamine, making it a useful way to supply thiamine to the body and improve thiamine status.
Also, what makes Thiamax superior to other Thiamine supplements is the fact that it’s the only form of TTFD in the world that doesn’t use any fillers or excipients.
Usage
Thiamax Dosage
How much Thiamine per day?
1 capsule per day, with or without food.
Avoid coffee/tea consumption either 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking Thiamax.
Avoid taking it in the afternoon or evening, as it may interfere with your sleep cycle.
It should be taken alongside 200-400 mg of magnesium & a high quality B-complex.
For first time users:
Start with ½ or ¼ of a capsule per day by emptying the capsule contents into a small glass of water.
Increase the thiamine dosage every 3 or 4 days until you reach 1 full capsule per day.
Before you start taking Thiamax
In some individuals, thiamine supplements like Thiamax can induce a temporary worsening of certain symptoms such as fatigue, brain-fog, and digestive bloating or gas. These side effects usually last for around one week, and are referred to as the “paradoxical reaction”.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much thiamine per day should be taken to begin with?
For people who have never taken thiamine supplements or TTFD before, it is best to start with half or quarter of a capsule. This can be done simply by opening a capsule and emptying a portion of the contents into a cold drink or cold food.
When is the best time to take thiamine supplements or Thiamax?
Thiamax is best taken in the morning time or early afternoon. If taken in the evening, it may disrupt your sleep cycle. Thiamax should be taken at least 1 hour before, or 2 hours after consuming coffee or any green/black tea, because the tannin content of these beverages can interfere with thiamine absorption.
Can I take Thiamax with food?
Thiamax can be taken with or without food. The absorption of the supplement is similar either way.
What are the side effects of thiamine supplements?
Initially some people can experience a “paradoxical reaction”with thiamine supplements. This might include a temporary period of increased fatigue, brain-fog, and poor concentration. These side effects of thiamine supplements usually subside within a few weeks.
What is the maximum dosage of Thiamax?
Although some people can benefit from taking multiple capsules, it is advised to not go higher than 3-4 capsules without prescription from a healthcare practitioner.
Are there any other supplements which should be taken with Thiamax?
Generally, it is advised to supplement Thiamax with 200-400mg of magnesium (in supplemental form) on the same day as Thiamax, and for this we recommend our ThiAssist mineral formula. Likewise, a full-spectrum vitamin B complex is also advised. For this we recommend either our active B complex ThiActive B, or alternatively our methyl-free formula called Thiavite. Please consult with your healthcare provider for specific advice before doing this.

When I first started taking Thiamax, I was dealing with anxiety and low energy levels. During the first few days, I actually felt a bit more anxious, which made me question if it was right for me. But I kept going, and over time, that initial tension started to fade. Now, after a month, I’m noticing small but steady improvements — my energy is a bit more stable, and the anxiety isn’t as intense as it used to be. The changes are slow, but they feel real. I’m going to continue using it and might increase the dose slightly to see if things improve further. No major side effects so far.

After taking it for more than a month, my brain fog is almost completely gone.
The only reason this isn’t a 5/5 for me is because it has magnesium in it, meaning it can’t be taken until 4-5 hours after thyroid medication and dozens of other medications. Since B1 is a stimulant for me, I can never fall asleep if I take it any later than 12PM. It’s a giant pain in the butt to have to time multiple meds/supplements, especially one like this where it screws up your sleep if you don’t thread the needle. It’s a really helpful supplement, but if a similarly priced ttfd comes out without magnesium, I’ll be switching brands
I discovered Thiamax through YouTube. I had reached a point of desperation. Nothing I did would facilitate a bowel movement. After watching a video that revealed that the vagus nerve is responsible for signaling the organs to function for a bowel movement, I ordered some. I have been using it for a number of weeks and happy to report that my function has been restored. I don’t think I can be without it. It has been a life saver.
